مرحوم آخوند در تعلیقه اش بر کفایه می فرماید: فردیت شک سببی برای عموم "لا تنقض"، فردیت مطلق(نه معلّق بر عدم فرض فرد دیگر- شک مسبّبی-) است؛ یعنی چه استصحاب در ناحیه ی مسبب جاری بشود و چه نشود، باز شک در بقاء در ناحیه ی شک سببی منتفی نمی شود حتی اگر استصحاب در آن حجت نباشد. ولی فردیت شک مسببی، فردیت معلّق است؛ چون اگر استصحاب در سبب(طهارت ماء مغسول به) جاری شود، دیگر نقض یقین به نجاست ثوب به وسیله ی شک نمی باشد بلکه نقض یقین به وسیله ی یقین به حکم شارع به طهارت ظاهریه(حجّت) است. در دلیل استصحاب نیامده که یقین را با شک نقض نکن حتی اگر حجت قطعیه آمده باشد. ولی اگر استصحاب مسببی جاری شود، نمی تواند طهارت ماء مغسول به را ثابت کند(چون از مثبتات آن است.) پس نسبت به سبب شک در بقاء مرتفع نمی شود. پس تنها استصحاب سببی در صورتی جاری نمی شود که به وسیله ی استصحاب مسببی تخصیص بخورد و عموم دلیل شامل آن نشود.
